I’m Sarah (she/her), a Toronto-based writer, anti-diet nutritionist, and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor. I teach folks how to have a healthy relationship with food and accept their natural body size.

Hi, I'm Sarah

If you’re looking for Intuitive Eating coaching, there’s a good chance you’ve already tried to figure this out on your own. Maybe you’ve read Intuitive Eating. You’ve followed anti-diet dietitians on Instagram. You’ve listened to podcasts, saved posts, and promised yourself that this time you would stop obsessing over food, stop criticizing your body, and finally learn how to trust yourself. Not-so-suddenly, a stressful week happens and your schedule becomes overwhelming. Work demands more from you than usual, and you find yourself exhausted at the end of the day, eating in ways you didn’t intend to, or feeling like you’re back in the same cycle you’ve been trying to escape.

And, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, you can’t help but wonder: “Why do I know so much about nutrition, yet I still struggle with food?”

What Is Intuitive Eating Coaching?

If this is your experience, you’re not failing at intuitive eating. You may simply be discovering that healing your relationship with food requires more than information, as well as understanding your body’s responses, your relationship with control, your history with dieting, and the ways food has helped you cope through different seasons of your life. That is where intuitive eating coaching can help.

Intuitive eating counselling is a collaborative process that helps you move away from dieting, food rules, and constant self-monitoring and toward a relationship with food that feels more peaceful, flexible, and trusting. Rather than creating another list of foods you should or shouldn’t eat, intuitive eating coaching helps you reconnect with your own internal cues. Together, we explore hunger, fullness, satisfaction, emotions, body image, and the beliefs that have shaped the way you relate to food.

My role as an Intuitive Eating Counsellor and eating disorders nutritionist is not to tell you what to eat. If you’re anything like many of my clients, you likely already have plenty of nutrition knowledge. Many of the women I work with are incredibly informed. You’re intelligent, motivated, and capable. You may have researched nutrition extensively, tried different approaches, and worked hard to create healthier habits. The problem isn’t that you don’t know enough. The issue is that food has become connected to stress, perfectionism, fear, guilt, or a feeling that you need to constantly get it right. Intuitive eating coaching helps you understand why this happens and how to create a different relationship with food.

Why Making Peace with Food Can Feel Harder Than It Sounds

One of the most common things I hear from women is: “I’ve tried intuitive eating, but I still struggle. I don’t think it works.” Maybe you’ve given yourself permission to eat foods you once restricted, but you still feel anxious afterward. Maybe you’ve stopped dieting, but you still think about your weight every day. Maybe you understand that your body deserves respect, but accepting changes in your body feels incredibly difficult.

This is because intuitive eating is not simply about knowing the right things to do. It is about building trust with a body that may have spent years feeling controlled, criticized, or disconnected from your needs. For many women, food struggles are not actually about food alone. They are connected to years of dieting, high expectations, chronic stress, body dissatisfaction, difficult life experiences, and the belief that being smaller, more disciplined, or more controlled will finally allow you to feel good enough. Your relationship with food developed for a reason. The goal isn’t to fight against your behaviours or force yourself to change through willpower. The real objective is to understand what your body has been trying to communicate and develop new ways of responding.

Intuitive Eating Is More Than Giving Yourself Permission to Eat

Permission is an important part of intuitive eating. After years of restriction, allowing yourself to eat without rules can be incredibly healing. But for many women, permission alone is not enough. If your nervous system still experiences food as something to control, fear, or compensate for, eating intuitively may continue to feel overwhelming. My approach combines intuitive eating with trauma-informed nutrition counselling, nervous system awareness, and somatic practices. This means we pay attention not only to what is happening with food, but also to what is happening inside your body.

If you find yourself eating past fullness after a stressful day, feeling disconnected from your hunger until you’re extremely hungry, or reaching for food when emotions feel overwhelming, we don’t approach those moments with judgment. Instead, we get curious. Your eating patterns are not random. They are often your body’s attempt to find comfort, safety, regulation, or relief. When you learn to listen to those signals with compassion, change becomes much more possible.

Who Is Intuitive Eating Coaching For?

The women I work with are often highly motivated, thoughtful, and successful. You’re running businesses, leading teams, building creative careers, caring for families, or managing demanding professional lives. You’re used to solving problems. When something isn’t working, your instinct may be to research more, try harder, and find a better strategy. So when food feels difficult, it makes sense that you approach it the same way: another plan, another set of goals, and another attempt to finally “get it right.” But healing your relationship with food often asks for a different kind of commitment—one that includes curiosity, self-compassion, and learning how to work with your body instead of against it.

Intuitive eating sessions may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel like food takes up too much mental space.
  • Swing between trying to be “good” and feeling out of control around food.
  • Struggle with binge eating or emotional eating.
  • Feel exhausted by dieting but don’t know what to do instead.
  • Want to trust your hunger and fullness cues again.
  • Feel disconnected from your body after years of ignoring its signals.
  • Want to enjoy food without guilt, anxiety, or constant analysis.

What Can You Expect From the Process?

Healing your relationship with food is not about becoming the perfect intuitive eater. There is no such thing, by the way. It is about creating a relationship with food that feels supportive and sustainable for your actual life. Over time, many women notice that food starts taking up less space in their minds. Meals become less stressful. They feel more confident making decisions around food. They are able to enjoy social experiences without spending hours analyzing what they ate.

Most importantly, they begin rebuilding trust with themselves. That trust often extends beyond food. When you learn to listen to your body and respond to your needs, you may find yourself creating more space for the things that matter most: your relationships, your creativity, your work, and the life you’ve worked so hard to build.

Food Struggles Can Change

If you’ve spent years trying to control your eating, it can be difficult to imagine another way. You may wonder if you’ll always struggle with food. You may worry that letting go of rules means losing control. You may feel like you’ve spent too much time dieting to ever feel at peace with your body. But healing is possible. Intuitive eating coaching offers a different path—one rooted in trust instead of control, curiosity instead of criticism, and connection instead of constant correction.

My hope is not that you become perfect at intuitive eating; rather, it’s that food becomes one part of your life instead of something that takes over your life. Imagine meeting a friend for dinner without rehearsing what you’ll order, enjoying a favourite dessert without needing to compensate afterward, or listening to your body without questioning whether you are doing it “right.” Healing your relationship with food is about so much more than food…it’s also about creating more room for your life.
